For more than 20 years, The Onion River Jazz Band has been presenting traditional New Orleans Jazz and preserving the legacies of such genre innovators as King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, and Bix Biederbecke. The band was formed when a group of musicians played a Jazz Worship Service at the First Congregational Church in Burlington as part of the Discover Jazz Festival. Steve Young of Vermont Public Radio described the band as “skillful musicians who parlay the infectious clamor of New Orleans Traditional Jazz into an art form.” The ship’s snack bar will be open and drinks will be available for purchase. The Festival recommends advance purchase due to the popularity of this event.
