“ [Esperanza Spalding] is an irresistible performer. …”

—Seattle Times

Bassist, vocalist and composer Esperanza Spalding won’t just enchant you – she’ll make you fall in love with jazz’s expansiveness and redefine its reach. The 23-year-old prodigy turned pro, one of Berklee College of Music’s youngest professors, has already played the world’s stages with tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano and singer Patti Austin and has released two albums to critical acclaim. Her evocative rhythms blend seamlessly with her airy, multilingual vocals to create music perched on the precipice of its full potential. Her 2008 release, Esperanza (Heads Up), vividly incorporates the rich traditions of jazz, soul, Latin, R&B and world music.

Produced by the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in association with Burlington City Arts
