“[Porter Batiste Stoltz are]…New Orleans funk legends.…”
—Rolling Stone
Burlington’s Waterfront Tent thumps with funk during one of the city’s favorite annual parties.
By the time Porter Batiste Stoltz (PBS) recorded their most recent album Moodoo (High Steppin Prod) right here in Burlington with Phish keyboardist Page McConnell, band members had already amassed jaw-dropping musical resumes and established themselves as brilliant sidemen and progenitors of New Orleans funk. George Porter, Jr., the acclaimed original bass player for Crescent City’s legendary group the Meters, along with drummer Russell Batiste, Jr. and guitarist Brian Stolz (Funky Meters)—celebrated, dynamic musicians with session and tour credits a mile long—mine the flexibility of the trio format to make room for their ever-morphing grooves and inimitable rhythms. The result is bonafide fierce music, ripe to party.
