Start with a pot of the seminal guitarist Will Bernard, who helped define the 90s Bay-area jazz movement in groups like the Grammy®-nominated T.J. Kirk (with Charlie Hunter), and who just released the critically acclaimed Blue Plate Special (Palmetto).

Sprinkle in the lower register from bassist Tim Luntzel, a man whose mile-long street cred includes tutelage from Ron Carter and work with Bill Frisell and Gillian Welch. Whisk in soul jazz organist Robert Walter, founding member of the Greyboy Allstars and leader of his own groups including 20th Congress and Big Heavy Organ.

And finally bring it to a boil with drummer Stanton Moore, the incendiary core of the New Orleans-based “steam-roller” funk band Galactic whose many side projects include his own trio and Garage a Trois. Bon appétit.
