Directed by Bertrand Tavernier, 1986 Herbie Hancock won the Oscar for best Original Score and appears in this wistful and tragic portrait that captures the Paris jazz scene in the 1950s.

A GREAT DAY IN HARLEM

Directed by Jean Bach, 1994 This Academy Award nominated documentary tells the story behind the famous 1958 black and white portrait of 57 notable jazz musicians.

FLYNN SUMMERTIME JAZZ INTENSIVE

Intermediate and advanced jazz musicians aged 13+ can study and play with Grammy-winning pianist Arturo O’Farrill and ensemble-in-residence Jazzismo at the Flynn’s summer intensive. Beginners aged 10-12 may join an improv program the same week. Email flynnarts@flynncenter.org for more information. Also available for credit through UVM.
